Silverbugs: Junius Maltby coins

in #silverbugs9 years ago

Hello all,
Today I just got a package with some silver coins I've ordered. The creation of these coins was organized by the youtuber "Junius Maltby": https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfK5KF9J2jfWNq30-OgNoRA

This is a pure silver coin (around 99.9% I believe). The front of the coin features Marsyas, a figure from Greek mythology. In Roman times, this figure was one of the earliest known symbols of free speech and liberty. And was often depicted flayed:

Marble statue from Louvre (from wikipedia.)

On the reverse side you can see the cuneiform text for "Amagi" which means "Freedom" in Sumerian. One of the earliest known words for "freedom".

Also seen are the Latin words for "Gold", "Silver" and "Liberty".

20 ounces of silver added to stack!

This video describes the coin in more detail:

STACKED EM UP!!!

Gotta love them AG

Yes Love Silver coins too

The youtuber Julius Maltby organized the whole thing, but I don't know what mint they were created at.

Thanks for the kind words @neoxian

I bought a tube of the channel coin. They are beautiful in my opinion, as professionally minted as any coin put out by a national mint. I bought these 1 oz. silver rounds because I am very interested in Greek and Roman history and its influence on Western civilization. I also appreciated the symbolism of the Marsyas character on the obverse and the Amagi on the reverse.
