Feature request: Someone please implement this (see picture)

in #steemit9 years ago

I really wish Steemit had this feature, for us curators.

Slider bar to specify what time you want your vote to go in.

Sort:

Now that would be something... Although if they do away with the 30 minute curation penalty, this wouldn't really be needed. As of right now though, it would be nice. :)

Agree with this-- in principle-- but isn't the whole "30 minute issue" going to go away with HF17?

I haven't seen anything along these lines in any of the changes. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure this is not there.

It may just have been something that came up during an active discussion on a post.

Probably :)

... Inquiring minds want to know.

Heh... LOL... wasn't the 30 minutes there primarily so best rewards were for people who likely actually read the thing they are voting on? While I know content lengths vary, and some read faster than others... wouldn't that feature kind of defeat the entire purpose of that? Might as well just remove the time element from the curation algorithm I'd think if we were going to do that...

or am I missing something?

The reverse auction is primarily in place to punish bots who just instantly upvote certain content.

Which it'd be pretty easy to make some adjustments to a bot and have it vote in 30 minutes instead.

No, because it might be better to vote at 15 minutes. The idea behind curation is to front run whale votes. It turns into a game which does require some brains and fuzzy logic.

Ok, I wasn't sure how that worked. I stopped worrying about trying to maximize my curation rewards and instead just vote on what I like. My steem power is low enough that there is not much point for me... if I had a lot of steem power it might be a different story.

I wish there was "timed" posting ...

Hmm, Interesting idea. I try not to consider curation rewards and my account suffers for it. :) I usually will just vote when I see something I like. This might be a good idea, once in a while.

I don't know if there would be any downside for the times I don't want to do anything extra. (Because you know an extra click is so annoying) :)
PS: I Really like your name "logo".

The second bar could default to "now" so you wouldn't have to do any extra clicks for the existing behavior.

Thanks, @vlad made me that logo.

I agree, this would be a great change!

Here are the challenges I see:

  • It would not be good to implement at a blockchain level, because then other users could 'front run' based on votes that they knew would be happening.
  • If it was not implemented at the blockchain level, it would mean that sites like Steemit would need to be able to submit votes without the user actually entering their private key at the time of voting. This would mean some type of private key storage, which poses quite a few security challenges.

Time for the local steemit browser...
