The 16-J was definitely an historic day for several reasons. The great conclusion is that most Venezuelans not only want a change, but long for that change that gives them hope, optimism, confidence and above all quality of life.

This historic day will mark a before and after in this exhausting but beautiful struggle that we have fought against a group that has tried to seize power and kidnap Venezuela. It has not been easy because the regime uses and abuses the power that citizens once gave them through voting.

But now these same citizens want an urgent change before the country has completely deteriorated. The Government tried to avoid at all costs that this people expressed, but it did and has been of such magnitude the impact that it will be very difficult to recover from the masterful move of civil society in alliance with the MUD.

More than seven million Venezuelans took to the streets to participate in this democratic party. This is an extraordinary result taking into account that only had 15 days for the organization, but also we do not have the information support of the mainstream media as a result of government pressure and especially the strategy of threatening and intimidating hundreds of thousands Of Venezuelans.

For you to see the magnitude of what has been achieved, in the presidential primaries of 2012 a little less than three million Venezuelans participated, although it was a process that led to an intense internal campaign among several pre-candidates. Today without a campaign, without means; But with a civil society gained to the cause we surpass the seven million participants.

That is a signal that the Government must know how to read. The healthy thing is that they facilitate the change. Ideally, give in to a country that wants and needs a transition. A transition to progress and true peace. A transition that corrects the damage of more than 19 years of mistakes and corruption.

But MUD and civil society must also read the moment and the circumstances well. It is the hour of total Unity. It's time for politics. It is time to set aside the interests and finish making the change. It is not the hour of free drawing and of the parallel agendas. We are winning the battle, let's finish winning the war.
