Wasp for Insect Day

It is Thursday and you know what that means. Of course, butterflies and insects, because it is Butterfly and Insect Day.

#butterflyday and #insectpub are created by @whatisnew for the contest hosted each week.
Check the link Thursday is Butterfly Day and Insect Day Giveaway- Week 29! for more details.

As much as I like butterflies I have no new photos. But I have some of this little wasp I took some days ago.

I usually do not attempt to photograph dead bugs, although it is much easier to practice. This little one was misfortuned to become a prey of my cat. After she played with the wasp and I think has learned some lessons about the sting, Furry left it to die.

Somehow I felt sorry for the little creature. And like majority of people I disliked them before, but not anymore. Well, I will not dare to tease the wasp. But they are really amazing creatures.

I know that most would disagree with me and would say that wasps are annoying and it is unpleasant to find a wasp in your drink or food when you are out. Not to mention the painful sting.

Recently I read an article why wasps are hated and bees loved and it seems the lack of information made them so unfavourite. The wasps are equally important along with the bees for pollination of flowers and they kill many pests. Bees are associated with honey, flowers, while wasps - dangerous, annoying.

But in fact wasps are valuable for the environment as much as the bees and we should not put only negative emotions when we think about them.

Thank you very much, glad you like my photos.

This poor little fellow ;( .. but the pictures are really good ^^

Thank you. I am learning to use the camera with the extension tubes. It is more difficult than using the phone camera. But I know that all I need is practice. :-)

Thanks @nelinoeva I agree wasps have a hard tilme from many humans

Thanks for stopping by. 😀
I had changed my point of view when I started photographing the bugs. Like many others I was afraid the wasp will sting me if I get close. But now I am just curious.

I once found a yellowjacket in my old apartment that was dying, then i gave it a drop of honey to eat and it perked back up enough to be let outside.

I left this one outside. The next morning I did not see it and I don't know if it has recovered or died.

Poor Furry! Amazing photos of the wasp Neli. I always love your photos and look forward to them every week. Wasps do get a bad wrap so thanks for mentioning their importance. And thanks for using #insectpub tag. : )

Thank you very much for your nice words. Wasps look fantastic upclose, don't they?
