The yen reached its weakest level in about 32 years"(-""-)"steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi, Everyone! This is @neko9!!
Today I would like to talk a little about something that worries me about Japan('_')

In the New York foreign exchange market on January 17, the yen further weakened, temporarily falling to the 149-yen per dollar level, the weakest level in about 32 years since 1990.
The yen also fell against the euro to the mid-146 yen per euro, the weakest level in about 7 years and 10 months.

In addition to the growing belief that significant interest rate hikes will continue in the U.S., the announcement that almost all major tax cut measures will be withdrawn in the U.K. on the day, easing fears of fiscal deterioration and buying back the pound, seem to have strengthened the move to sell the yen and buy the dollar.

The Japanese government and the Bank of Japan intervened in the market on September 22 to sell dollars and buy yen, but the yen's depreciation has not been halted, and the market is interested in whether further intervention will take place.

It's only a matter of time before it finally exceeds 150 yen ...
Although exports and tourism will be enriched, it is still so sad and critical that our currency is losing value rapidly.

In Japan, there have been an increasing number of policies that are damaging to the country, and it may finally be time to seriously consider emigration, etc.

What kind of things?
For example, the "Employees' Pension Plan" is designed to make up for the shortfall in the "National Pension Plan".

Very simply put, a policy is being considered to use the money paid by salaried workers to make up for the unpaid portion of the self-employed.
※Isn't that strange?

Other policies being considered include a five-year extension of pension payments.
For an average salaried family, this is a pain in the neck of about less than 1 million yen.

While the policy will reduce future pension benefits, it is an outrage to extend the period of time to pay more...
I have nothing but distrust for the government these days.

I like Japan as a country, so I hope things are going in the right direction...

Oh well, it keeps destroying my dreams and hopes. Since I am having Yen and not Dollar or Euro I am not happy with this situation at all. When I went abroad recently I was pretty shocked how expensive everything got. And Japan relies heavily on foreign oil and resources, and a weak yen will further cripple the domestic economy. Maybe except tourism, if finally people start pouring into the country again. Strange times indeed!
