Color Challenge :: Tuesday Orange :: Pomelo
Pomelo Flesh
Down in Florida, we have these giant fruits that look like overeager grapefruits. Pomelos. Huge, fleshy, but not particularly worth the effort to eat them. Tastes like a mild grapefruit, but you really have to work to get enough onto a spoon.
Still, since we've never had one before we grabbed one at the local farmers market. Orange enough for Orange Tuesday!

I remember those from when I lived in Florida. I kinda liked them as they were not a sour as grapefruit.
Right, less sour, but I kind of like the sour. I don't think I'll eat these very often, there's so much work involved to eat them, and so much junk to throw away afterwards.
Compost it!!
Dah! I knew someone would suggest that. I've tried compost heaps many times. Down in FL, they don't end well. Fruit flies reign supreme.
Have you tried spraying neem oil? It helps will all kinds of critters. You can put it on anything. Also Diametruis Earth is good too.

That is some epic citrus. I get spoiled with cuties though, no fuss, no muss for the kids.
There is...a crapton of muss and fuss with these things. Nothing simple here.

Neither did we! There are a lot of weird fruits and veggies at some of the more exotic farmers markets. Gotta try them at least once, even if you don't know how to open/peel/crack the thing properly, or how to eat it.
