INTERESTING RT REPORT ON BITCOIN AND DARK WEB

in #bitcoin7 years ago

RT news made some extremely interesting comments through its findings on BITCOIN AND THE DARK WEB.
It reports that the fastest growing part of the internet is the dark web.
NEARLY ALL TRANSACTIONS on the dark web are happening in BITCOIN.
It is hard to find a vendor on dark web that will take anything other than Bitcoin.
The Bitcoin economy is bing kept afloat to a certain extent by the dark web.

Here is a link to the report

News media is often used to direct people in certain directions and to legitimize future government actions. I find this report disturbing not because of Bitcoin use on the dark web but because the way this link is being presented. Vendors on the dark web were there before and will still be there if you removed Bitcoin. Efforts may be underway to delegitimize Bitcoin transactions in current form. Although RT also reports that it seems impossible to control cryptos and makes a good point that cryptos are not untrackable as has been suggested by some.

@nedspeaks I always tell people that if it wasn't for Bitcoin, then the dark web wouldn't have blossomed thus far and if not for the Darkweb Bitcoin would not have become what is it today.

Very interesting . I never knew of the link.

Yup, it's what basically keeps it going.

I find that story very difficult to swallow. Anyone using Bitcoin on the dark web are very silly indeed, Bitcoin is traceable so no real dark web user would be stupid enough to use it. Cloakcoin and Monero are the choices for the Darkweb as they are not traceable.

It surprised me as well Rob.

That's the kind of thing my Dad thinks of when I mention Bitcoin. I hope it gets spread to many more types of transactions so that it isn't held back by these associations.

I don't think anything can hold back bitcoin.

I don't either
