Day 3: Tanjung Benoa Sea Sport Recreation, Uluwatu Temple, Jimbaran Beach

First stop: Tanjung Benoa Tanjung Benoa Sea Sport Recreation

It was scorching today. You can do the usual beach fun activities like parasailing, banana boat, diving etc. We opted out because a)it was burning and b)not baby-friendly lol. So we enjoyed drinks under the shade instead. In Bali, remember to enjoy their rich avacado smoothies. Mmmm....

There's a mini pool nearby you can use as long as you order something from the bar. Here's Aiden cooling off, look how happy he is!

Second stop: Uluwatu Temple

Hindu temples require everyone to cover their legs below the knee by wrapping on a sarong. It's not a bad idea to buy one if you're temple hopping and bring it back as a keepsake. Watch out for the monkeys, they can be over-friendly and tend to ignore the concept of personal space.

Uluwatu Temple is one of the most popular attractions in Bali. The ocean breeze is a wonderful welcome from the general humid Bali heat. The temple sits on a limestone cliff surrounded by a forest and is home to families of grey long-tailed macaques. Do note you cannot enter the temple itself as it is closed to public. Best time to visit is evenings as the setting sun makes a great view and you can stay on for the kecak dance.

Third Stop: Jimbaran Beach

I'll be honest. I didn't enjoy this place. I know Google images of Jimbaran look beautiful, but the beach was dirty and the food was bleh (standard serving of dry, shriveled bbq skinny crabs, prawns, scallops and old coconuts with loads of flies). Why this spot is popular mystifies me...

Unedited photo. Rubbish all along the stretch.

Kinda sad when my favorite part of Jimbaran is the corn.

Day 4: Tegenungan Waterfall, Kuta Beach

First Stop: Tegenungun Waterfall

On our last day, we only had a couple of hours to kill so off we went to Tegenungun Waterfall in the morning. There are rows of art and souvenir shops as well as stalls selling snacks and much-desired cold drinks. You can take a dip at the base after trailing down a few minutes of rocky steps.

Enjoying cold coconut water while hiding from the blistering sun.

Lunch at a nearby restaurant. Love the vast paddy field and cool breeze.

My favorite Balinese food...Bebek which is essentially fried duck. You must try this!

Aiden enjoying local dragon fruit.

Second Stop: Kuta Beach

Shopping heaven! Heaps and heaps of little shops clustered together is a bargain hunter's dream. Unfortunately we only had 2 hours here and I didn't take photos because I was too busy shopping (oops). Carrying Aiden everywhere as a portable gym is the secret to muscular arms.

Third Stop: Flight back to KL

Flight was delayed again. No more Malindo Air for me. First and last time ever! Bali was a great cultural experience, though it wouldn't be my first choice to revisit when there are so many more countries to explore. I enjoyed chronicling this trip as a photo storyboard and hope you enjoyed this glimpse of Bali.

Till the next post!
