THINGS TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN BEFORE YOU DIE

This post is inspired by my neighbor who shouts his heart out every morning in a bid to get his children do the basic house chores.

Now, I am a believer of discipline for children. Children are fragile beings and if they are not put on the right track, they can do anything; his includes good and bad. In other words, children need to be guided at all times.

One very vital thing your children should know as they grow up is the need to be independent. Independence is very important for them if they must survive in this world where everyone wants to mind their business. They need to be taught the need to be self-reliant and believe in themselves. The competition is stiff and no one has sufficient time to help out. You should create that sufficient time to teach them to be independent.

In addition to the above-named point, your children should also be taught tolerance. They should be able to tolerate people’s excesses while being careful with them.

House chores should not be left to nannies and housekeepers alone. At age 5, they should have a sense of responsibility to keep the house clean and look after their personal belongings.
Even though we live in an independent world, they should be open to help people in need whether mentally, financially, psychologically or otherwise.

Children should also imbibe the team spirit attitude. You should talk to them about the advantages of cooperation to the growth of any individual or organization.

Before you leave earth, the onus lies on you to equip these fragile ones in the society with the right survival tools. You wouldn’t want to leave your children empty, would you?
