QUIT POLITICAL APATHY
I would not be quick to cast aspersions on people who are victims of political apathy. I would be quick to show them the consequences of voter apathy. The consequences of evil may not be immediate because most times, the effect builds up slowly underground. It is the same situation when we have people who are nonchalant when issues of politics come up every other day. They would instead not vote in any election how much more contesting any election. Whatever happens at the polling booth is none of their business. Worst still, they are at the forefront of blaming the government for each of their shortcomings when they don't have inputs on how the government should run.

People swallowed in the pit of political apathy give many reasons why they do not participate in any political activity. When asked, they boldly tell you that their vote does not count. How do they know? Well, they are even right. You can't know whether your vote counts or not if you don't go out to vote how much more ensuring that the right things take place at the polling unit. It takes a right-thinking man to cast his vote and follow up the process till all is done and dusted.
Some persons hate politicians. Around the world, we can smell the hate and resentment people have towards politicians. From some corners, you would even hear that they would instead prefer military rule to civilian rule. It goes contrary to the popular belief that the worst civilian rule is better than the best civilian government. This hatred for politicians fuels the drive not to participate in politics, and this is not fair to everyone. The politicians, the county, and the person are affected by the evil of political apathy.
When someone is hated, trust is lost. As long as people continue to hate politicians, they also do not trust them and their policies. Even when politicians come up with reasonable policies, they tend to oppose these policies because they do not trust the government. it is very unfair to all of us.
The media also contributes its quota in political apathy. The social, visual, and print media sometimes lets itself wallow in fake news about the polity. When the press fuels fake news, it changes the perception of viewers, listeners, or readers, and this further deteriorates the situation. If the media portray the polity and politicians in a positive light, more persons would feel the need to put in their best to make the county better.
The dangers of political apathy are quite overwhelming. Topmost of which is that we give the government a marching order to continue in the evil they were doing. The electorates that ought to serve as a check on the government are not concerned so? The corrupt government that knows about this rejoice in this shortcoming and take advantage of the situation to loot as much money as their bank accounts can carry.
When we as citizens do not participate in the political process, we leave room for the government to misbehave and not be accountable to citizens. However, if we want to effect positive change in society, then it is pertinent that we take the political process seriously and contribute meaningfully to society.
