After the Wake
Alone I sat
After the wake
Just her, I,
And the vampire stake.
Body so stiff
And skin so pale.
Her face covered
By a black veil.
I made my way
‘Cross the marble floor,
Towards my still bride
To perform the chore.
Raising the stake,
I let loose a yell,
But I was too late
She’d come back from hell.
Fangs so sharp
And eyes so grim;
Up she rose
Still missing a limb.
She hopped to me
And grabbed my arm,
Then gave me smile
With such innocent charm.
Her hips swung left
And mine swung right.
I twirled her around
And we danced all night.
The morning after
The pastor came.
His eyes grew wide
Upon the sight in frame.
Atop the altar,
Bare bodies in sight.
One was pink
And the other pale white.
