Making School Project (Merlion Soap Carving)

Greetings,

Glad to be back here in steeming in this community. Inspired to share my diary for today which all I had to do was to carve a school project of my eldest daughter were it is already in Grade 8. And since it was already a deadline date of my daughter's school project in MAPEH (art subject).

So I have to hurry inorder to pass it on time for her project. Since my eldest daughter Athena had a school project with regards to an art carving works. Inspiration through a merlion statue that can be found in Singapore.

Using with a soap that can be found in the house. And for making an art using with a laundry soap inorder to make it. And it was a coincidence that I had also a knowledge pertaining to carving. So immediately I was assigned with my wife to work with these arts.

So let me tell the materials that I have used. And knowledge on how to make this merlion soap carving. Then beginning sharing with my materials which may include the very common things that can be found in the house.

So these are the tools that I have needed:

• a 5 cm width X 8 cm length X 2 cm thick laundry soap
• a carving tools (small flat chisel, small curve chisel, small v-shape tool, small axe shape chisel, small concave tool)
• a tracing paper
• a nylon brush
• and a pen

Simple tips:

Lay-out first an outline of the image using a pen and a tracing paper. Extract the excess portion of the soap which not included in the design. And then started to carve. And for finishing touches, brushed it with a nylon brush inorder to get the chips.

And this is it, presenting and sharing my little knowledge in arts. Which really gives a little inspiration specifically to all who have talents in art most in carving. Which I also introduced originally and proudly with my hand-made works.
