🏡 Tour of the Hacienda La Trinidad Cultural Park
Hacienda La Trinidad is located in the urbanization Sorokaima, La Trinidad, Baruta, southeast of Caracas. It is around 450 years old and is one of the oldest haciendas in the city that have been able to preserve.
This wonderful place is declared as a Cultural Asset of the Municipality of Baruta.
Hacienda La Trinidad is a space for learning and recreation, it is a self-sustaining cultural center.
The Dutch sculptor Cornelis Zitman and his family have been responsible for turning this space into what it is today. He dies in January 2016, but leaves a lot to remember. In fact, one of the houses of the Hacienda is where his family lives and is named Zitman, it is not accessible to the public.
The Hacienda is structured as follows:
Casa del Trapiche: this was where they extracted juice from sugar cane, it is the home of the Zitman family, it is private property.
Auxiliary house: used to process and store coffee. It is currently part of the administrative offices of the place, there is a holistic health centre and space for the workshops.
By the way, the reason for my visit to the Hacienda today was a workshop I attended called "Cactus and Succulent Care and Handling".
I arrived early at the place very excited and with many expectations, my husband took me by car because it is not very easy to get there on foot, you can go by bus or metrobus to the main avenue of La Trinidad and there walk to the urbanization which is a closed space.
As you enter the vehicle through the main entrance, you will see the drying rooms on your right, the Zitman house on the top and the old house on the left where the workshop was held.
At the end of the workshop I did my tour of the rest of the facilities, of the Dryers.
Dryer room 1: is a traditional handicraft shop, they sell beautiful things, mostly made of wood, you can also get sweets, jams, chocolates. It's a very nice place if you want to take a beautiful souvenir with you.
Dryer room 2: is the art gallery, her name is Carmen Araujo.
Dryer room 3: is a space for corporate events.
Dryer room 4: it's a cafeteria called Alfresko, it has an aroma that makes you feel hungry, they sell a little bit of everything, cheese, oils, jams, cookies, cakes, coffee, juices, lunches, and stop counting; in the back there are their tables and chairs for tasting.
Drying room 5: Cacao shop, I have no words to describe the feeling I felt when I entered that place, it smells divine, pure and strong cocoa, they sell chocolate in all its presentations and of different brands, they also sell their hot chocolate and cakes to accompany.
Drying room 6: This is the Sopa de Letras bookstore, its two floors are full of books of all kinds for children and adults. A fascinating place.
Drying room 7: This is the photography workshop.
Next to dryer room 7 there is another larger parking lot.
In the past, drying rooms were used to dehydrate tobacco.
In front of the dryers there are chairs and benches to spend a pleasant time, has bathrooms and a square for enjoyment and recreation.
To be in that place is to forget that one is in the city, the first time I was going and I was in love, one breathes peace.
I hope you enjoyed this tour, I invite you to know this space, you will love it.
Let's highlight the good things about our country. Let us value and care for our spaces. A hug.
