Thanks for the reply, a couple of weeks. I just came to read and learn, but found the whole place to be a fascinating concept. Just taking things slowly one step at a time. There are some fabulous contributors here.....and some copy and paste merchants lol.....its finding stuff thats interesting and original to follow :-)

That's a good question because it seems that there is a certain level of people just going around begging for upvotes and people downvoting others out of spite. It's difficult to understand why simply posting content that people may or may not like doesn't seem to be enough.

absolutely my point entirely. Sadly, due to the financial element, many people are here just to make money and not to provide quality content which is rewarded as the site seems to have been set up for. This is a huge shame but not sure what could be done to fix this. Thd theory is great but practically it doesnt seem to work too well.

I say this all the time - making money is literally the only thing that distinguishes steem from any other social media platform. Think about it. The idea is that this desire to make money will lead to better content, eventually, though I do agree with you that its not happened yet. I do think it has become a fairly good place for crypto information, we'll see if other topics follow suit...

yes, the crypto guys are posting some excellent, informative and intelligent output. Will be interesting to see the direction other topics take. Thanks for the reply :-)

Post quality content and something that is not copy pasted from a different author and of course there should be a story at least.

You'll see others will only post a photo, or they post 5 sentences with 20 letters!

I think if everyone writes their original blogs and not sacrificing the quality of our content, it'll encourage the newbies to do the same thing.

When I started I broke a lot of rules because I was alone and didn't know anything, not to mention I was so clumsy! I go visit any steemit accounts. I read a lot, a lot of times I would get frustrated with what I learned so I started experimenting.

  1. get along with steemians you like.
You don't to befriend everyone, that is not possible in my case.
  2. invest in yourself first by buying steem coin and boosting your own blog

no need for resteeming, it'll bury your blogs and you don't want that!

Yeah it's a good idea to put as much as you can (use your common sense here) into SP. if you upvoted a comment, for instance, and the payout is at least somewhat significant, the author will take notice and may check out your blog. If you upvoted something and it's worth $0.00, it will go largely unnoticed.

Write good stuff and buy upvotes with bots to promote yourself at the beginning. Comment with thoughtful comments on posts you like.

thats good advice, thanks. And in the spirit of things :-)
