Career changes are scary

There’s not much that scares me. About the only thing that does is a career change. I spent almost 4000 hours in the last year making prestress concrete and that place was home to me. I don’t know why it had to end the way it did but I do know it doesn’t feel good. I have my old job back and it still hurts inside.

I wasn’t ready for this.

What happened...from my first day there was three individuals )who hold a lot of sway with upper management) who decided they didn’t like me. I don’t know why. Even on my first day it was nothing but drama from them. Today I attempted to request better training for new hires in a meeting and those three engineered an attack on me during the meeting with the entire department in attendance and were allowed to spread lies while I was told to be quiet. Fast forward a year and I’ve become a whistle blower and reported several instances of workplace violence. One of which was undoubtedly intended to be fatal to the victim. He wasn’t harmed in either and now I’m out of a job I loved. I’ve been talking to the people I worked with and it seems everyone is very upset about what happened to me.

I didn’t break stride because that’s not what I do. I found a new job immediately. It is a place I had worked at in the past and absolutely loved. Former coworkers saw me come in and came to the office to request I be rehired. It was a great reunion and I felt great after leaving. Everything is great except for the hole in my life left by the company I resigned from today. I loved that job.

I won’t say where I’m going. I know where I’m going and what it’s going to be like. But I’m still afraid. Maybe something is wrong with me. I feel like I’m a broken person.
