On our way back from our amazing camping trip in Dongara we took my grandparents down to the pinnacles. The pinnacles are over 500 000 years old and are made from shell fragments that break down to from fine sand which is rich in calcium carbonate (lime).

As you can see the weather was perfect and produce amazing photos and views of the vast desert area that the pinnacles take over. It’s amazing how limestone can take shape as pinnacles and also how there can be so many throughout this area.

Scientists still to this day can’t explain fully how the pinnacles were formed and continues to puzzle them. It’s believed that the pinnacles were exposed 6000 years ago but got buried again by shifting sands.

My grandparents were absolutely fascinated by the site of the pinnacles as they have never seen such things in there lives.

I hope this post also fascinates you and maybe you would like to go see them for yourself one day. Have a wonderful day full of steem and hope to see you again soon ☺️.
