Old Headshot Day
So I’ve noticed whilst scouring through my other social media platforms (not something I do much since discovering Steemit) that there’s been a celebration of old headshots from our past. I’m not normally one to jump on bandwagons, but, hey, I’m proud of many of the creations I’ve made and been a part of through the years and I think it’s important to celebrate our achievements and see where we’ve come from.
In fact, if we don’t acknowledge our achievements from the past regularly, we find it harder to add fuel to the pursuit of the goals we want to reach in the future.
Moreover, it’s hard to know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been.
Besides, why not reveal where I’ve been to my Steemit friends?
So I thought I’d dig up these old shots.
Old Band shoot, circa 1999
It’s fascinating looking at this shot knowing what visions I was seeing in my mind regularly at this time and who my allies were as well. Then reflecting about what elements of my vision change since that time and how transient, and also cyclic, allies can be.
Old acting head shot, circa 1996
Okay, so this goes back a little further.
I was still acting school at this time, but I had signed with one of the best acting agents in Australia, which most acting students don’t dare to attempt doing until they graduate, but my vision for my life path was strong, myopic and intense detailed at the time.
CONFESSION: At this time in my life, I didn't think I was a "good looking" guy (although I knew people were attracted to me, but I thought it was because I had fun, cheeky, spunky, high-level energy). All I saw were the flaws that would go against me being considered as the 'romantic lead actor' and although I still thought I could become a lead actor in films, I firmly believed it was because I'd have to be a 'great actor' to get there so I worked ridiculously hard. I studied the craft with utmost intensity to transcend my self-perceived physical flaws. Says something about the indoctrinations of mainstream media, doesn't it?
We are all beautiful beings, in our own unique, precious way.

I haven’t seen this in nearly 20 years, but I know what was running through this young man’s idealic mind at the time.
Please make sure you vote for @pfunk, @ausbitbank as witnesses here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses. These dudes do lotsa good.

Oh please do!
ahhaah ok just because you asked.
This is me in highschool with some friends. The blonde on the right was murdered by her jealous husband only a few months ago
Here's me with my first car at age 18

Here's me at age 23 or something during a very short modeling career

and you know the me now =)
you are beautiful in all of them, and I'm so sorry about your friend :( It is odd how we go back to revisit this pictures and sometimes , sadly some of my friends are gone too way too soon. So let´s cherish we´re here :) and hopefully aging even more to remember the actual selves as old headshots 30 years from now
Naaaw! Thanks lovely. What a cuuute shot!!! Even the pooch is looking at the camera... <3
Cool post man, this is my photo as a youngin in Mexico. I had the troll face down haha
That knowing smirk! Ha! It's like you know something noone else knows!
Rather intense mysterious gaze for a kid....;)
Dude, I do not know how you could have ever thought that you were not good looking. I have been holding back from telling you to put a shirt on in your videos! HAHA. Of course I wouldn't want to say that as it's good to have some eye candy from time to time ;)
But yes we all go through times in our lives where we all think we don't have that beauty that other people see. I am guilty of that to this day.
Absolutely! Look past that vanity mirror to see the true person and then we will see what is beautiful.
Here's an old shot of me when I was 20... I think lol. For the sake of sharing ^_^

I don't seem to have anything much older it would seem. I am not fond of my picture being taken. This would have been in 2004/05 maybe.
Naaaaw! Flattery will get you everywhere!! Thank you.
But you actually got the point of that part of my post. We can have unreasonable expectations and perceptions of ourselves and be far too harsh to ourselves. For example, I hated my smile for so many years. It took others (many, many others) randomly repeatedly commenting on how they loved my smile over the course of decades until I looked myself in the mirror and asked myself why I hated my smile so much, and more importantly, why others seemed to think it was one of my redeeming qualities. I came to the conclusion that I may never like my smile, but I promised Great Spirit that if it makes others happy when they see me smile, I'll never inhibit my smile again and just give it unashamedly and be grateful.
Beauty is subjective and the most beautiful people are those that give love and happiness to others, particularly those rare gems that make other people they interact with feel beautifully special.
And that's a cute pic of you! Rrrrrroooooooowwwwwrrrr (sound effect of a sexy growl)....
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment.
Your smile is enough to make someone melt because it is genuine, true and full of life! It shows how happy you are and is filled with love for everything. Pure enjoyment from the littlest things to the great big moments. It is easy to tell someone that they have a great smile, perfect white teeth and all, but that is not what makes the smile beautiful in my opinion. Ya it makes a nice mouth but what I mean is... it's the same thing as laughter. You laugh, I laugh. It's contagious and a wonderful feeling.
By the way you made me blush lol. More encouraging to get me my old shape back. :p
I have to edit this, I went to look on some videos and you are wearing muscle shirt most of the time. Well, my imagination got the best of me! XD I have been dreaming lol.
Yeah you could have had a lead in a romance...
And this is me at 18! Lots of metal, makeup, and black.
Wow! Thank you, lovely!
That is a sexy-cute pic of you! Such radiant blue eyes!
All the way to the right...
Oh yeah! You even have that thoughtful, piercing gaze at that young age! Or is that a look of trying to cover up something because you were just busted underage drinking @meno??!!
ohhh nice headshots! I think the "romantic lead roles" have changed quite a lot and now are more accepting of different, not so boring vanilla styles =) Much better now!!!
Are you still acting?
Wow! Thanks @evecab!
Yes, it's so true, the lead roles have changed for men since those days, although now men need to have super cut abs and jacked up bodies with 4% body fat! Haha!
Yes, I am still acting occasionally.
I have a film that I'm one of the lead actors in being released in cinemas this year, mostly in Australia, India and parts of the USA. It's already won best film awards at a couple of high-reputation film festivals. yay!
ooohh great! I want to see it, now you've got me curious =) Let me know when it comes out! Congrats on the best film awards too!!
@nathankaye you looking sharp cuzi bro... i dont have many old school shots, would have to dig around a lot to find stuff, but here we go:
Here is an old shot of a performance (Young Lay - All About My $Fetti) some friends and i put together for our yr10 formal (1996) im far right, rocking the kangol, lol.
some of the basketball crew in high school (second from left staring into the distance... dunno what i was looking at)

Birthday way back in 2001 (guy on far right)

Thanks bro!
Oh, wow! Look at you Davo!
Looking sharp @mfxae86! And hanging with cool crew!
All goon mate, credit where its due :) Ah, the cool crew is subjective, we were a mixed bag of a rag tag crew... we just did our thang ;) lol. much love.
wow, it's a uncommon photography. Is the band really old?? However looking so gorgious! Great post bro.
Actually, it’s very common photography for both the band shots and the acting shot (the yellow/sepia tint is just caused by the incandescent light I took the pics from my iPhone of the photos under. They’re not scanned in. One can even see the light reflecting off the gloss of the first photo itself), but you clearly didn’t read the blog post, as it states the years of each photo extremely clearly.
However, thanks for the gorgeous compliment.
ou I see.. omg really a creative shooting.. the captures are also awesome.
