HOW IMPORTANT IS PUNCTUALITY TO YOU

Hello friends, hope you're doing well. Welcome to my blog today. I'm writing about the importance of punctuality. Being punctual basically means keeping to time or being on time. That means that someone has to arrive at at an appointment on the agreed time. Though often underrated in our present society, punctuality is a very important facet of life. Infact, punctuality can be clearly seen in nature.

We live our normal lives because of nature's punctuality, for example the sun rises every morning allowing us to go about our daily activities in daylight and sets in the evening allowing us to rest at night. This being just one of the numerous ways nature's punctuality makes life possible. It is obvious that punctuality is very important in life.

Importance Of Punctuality

The importance of punctuality in life cannot be overemphasized. It is even taught in institutions that mold people like schools en even in the military. Here are some of the reasons why punctuality is important in life:

High Productivity

When someone is trained to be punctual he is more effective while working at any task. He keeps in mind the time factor required to complete a particular task and works towards it this might involve starting early and remaining committed to the task so as to finish on time. That also means that a punctual person will not allow himself to be sidetracked by distractions. A person with this attitude towards work no doubt will have by far a higher productivity rate than a person who is not trained to be punctual since the latter will be prone to procrastination.

Self Confidence

Because a punctual person can effectively complete tasks it boosts his self confidence. He is able to accept bigger challenges and surmount seemingly difficult tasks. So we can say the more punctual people we have the more confident and productive people we have in the society and it's obvious that the likes of such people are really need in the society.

Respect And Reliability

A punctual person readily commands the respect of others because he is true to his word and as a result is reliable people can heed his call knowing that he won't fail to show up. Punctuality is closely related to honesty so people can also trust a punctual person to keep promises because if someone promises to arrive at an appointment at an agreed time or delivers a job at the agreed time then naturally he can be trusted with weightier responsibilities.

Discipline

Punctuality is learned by discipline. For example schools might have punishment set aside for latecomers and students who fail to complete school work on time. Such discipline associated with failure at punctuality helps the students develop the quality. In military training punctuality is also highly maintained, recruits are required to wake up at a set time to perform certain drills even though it might be uncomfortable for them but they learn to discipline their body to react readily to anything they might face in combat invariably teaching them that punctuality can save lives. The discipline applied to learn punctuality can also be applied to other areas of life, so if someone can forgo sleep and other pleasure to meet up to time he can also maintain the same discipline in other areas of life thereby learning to prioritize.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm

This a popular saying that encourages punctuality. The lesson is that when you are on time you get the best pick on opportunities or even the only available one. I really agree with this idea and have witnessed it happened a lot. Sacrifices made to be punctual pay off most times someone may be favoured at an interview with other worthy applicants because he/she arrived early. Might even get the opportunity because he is the only person present at the time because he was punctual. Time they say waits for no one so does the opportunities of the moment the ones who grasp it most times are those who were right on time. So yes "the early bird get the worm.

Better Late Than Never

This is another quote I believe in though most time I think it is misapplied. It is sometimes used by those who procrastinate to show that there always time to do something that could have been done earlier. But I don't believe that is the lesson from that quote because it didn't say better late than early. It just encourages us to be persistent and not give up if we couldn't do something when we thought we should because of circumstances beyond our control. So it shouldn't be an excuse not to do things at their appropriate time when we have the ability to. So yes it's better late than never and it's best done on time.
