Putong Bigas or Rice Cake
Putong Bigas or Rice Cake is one of the most favorite sweet delicacies in our country (Philippines). In our province in Tacloban, every occassion, one of the menus is Putong Bigas. You will love this delicacy so you must try it. Here are the ingredients and procedure.
INGREDIENTS:
1 Cup of Rice
1 Table Spoon Baking Powder
1 Cup of Gata (Coconut Milk)
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 Table Spoons Kanin Lamig (Leftover cooked rice)
Banana Leaves
Procedure:
1.) Rinse the 1 cup of rice with water, and soak with coconut milk. Put in the fridge overnight or at least 5 hours.
2.) Using blender or food processor, grind the rice along with coconut milk, sugar, leftover rice, and baking powder.
3.) Now prepare your molder, cut the banana leaf with the same size of your molder.
4.) Put 3/4 batter into the molder with banana leaf.
5.) Steam for about 30-40mins.
6.) Do the toothpick test. If it comes out clean then your rice puto is already cooked.
