How to root structure in plants?
Hello steemians friend. How are you today? I still hope you are fine. On this occasion I will write related plants with the title: What is the root structure in plants? I hope this article can be useful for all readers of the blog.
Root is a plant organ that is in the soil formed from different tissues in plants. In addition to functioning as a tool to strengthen plants, the roots also as a tool of water obsorbsi, and absorb various nutrients contained in the soil.
Root has a very strong structure. This is evidenced from some scientific fact that the ability of roots can penetrate a strong soil layer. For example, roots in rubber trees, he has the ability to penetrate the wall up to several meters from where he grew. It is the plant's attempt to extract various types of nutrients found in the soil.
Types of roots
Based on its shape, the root type can be distinguished in two types, namely taillar roots and fiber roots.
A. Tap root
Tap root is a kind of primary root that extends and becomes the center of the roots of branches that are much smaller than the primary roots or taproots. Roots are commonly found on two seed plants such as mango, orange, durian, roses and others.
B. Root fiber
The root of the fibers is the root of the plant in the form of fibers. All the parts are attached to the base of the lower tree. This kind of root can be found on one seeded plant. Such as sugar cane, grass, corn and some flowers.
The root structure
Morphologically (outer structure) the root part is formed from the root hair, root stem, root tip, and the root hood. And if observed anatomically (inner structure) roots, there are parts epidermis, cortex, endodermis and central cylinder parts.
- Epidermis
The epidermal tissue is composed of a single layer of cells, with a high density. The cell wall possessed by the epidermis is very thin. So as to make the roots easily penetrated by water. Minerals and water dissolved in the soil first enter through the hair of the roots and through the epidermal cell wall. Root hairs that exist in the epidermis make the surface of the cell wall expanded so that the absorption of water and minerals contained in the soil more efficient and efficient.
- The cortex
The cortex is the outermost part of the stem or the growth that is restricted on the outside by the epidermis and on the inside by the endodermis. [Source]
The cortex serves as the nutrient transport from the epidermis to the root terrace. In some types of plants or plants the cortex also serves as a reservoir of energy in the form of Starch.
- Endodermis
Endodermis is the cell layer that prevents the nutrients from leaving the structure plants and back ground. Endodermis is the inner root tissue sequence after the cortex. Endodermis serves as the outlet of water, nutrients and minerals from the central cylexcort cortex.
That is some explanation related to the root and function I quoted from several sources. I hope this paper can benefit all readers. And enjoy the weekend.
