Russia fresh-water. Intro.
I live in Moscow. This is a very large metropolis with suburbs. To get out on nature you have to go a long way. If we are talking about a natural body of water, where you can dive, then this is not less than 300 kilometers of the road.
Lakes in the middle zone of Russia can not be called very transparent. But there is something to shoot underwater. Already about 10 years we with friends go to dive in the Tver and Novgorod area. Only a few lakes where we return time after time.
There it is very beautiful and on the surface and underwater. Small additives in water color it in a certain color. And traditionally greenish water can become almost orange on a sunny day.
The best time to dive in fresh water is the beginning of summer. The water has already cleared after the winter and has warmed up a little. But not so much to blossom. Therefore, it is transparent enough to see a new underwater world. There are no corals and bright colors. But swimming among algae and water lilies on a sunny day is fine.
Agree, looking at these photos that the visibility under the water of 3-4 meters is not an obstacle. Everything becomes more chamber and cozy. And every movement of the fins opens something new.
In good weather it's very difficult to stop. Usually I swim without stopping for 3-4 hours. For a day you can swim on the fins a few kilometers to the shore of the lake.
You can swim to the standing in the ambush pike just a few centimeters. The truth is not the fact that you will notice it first. The disguise of river and lake fish is very good.
When I tell and show these photos, many are surprised. It's hard to imagine that in a typical lake it can be so beautiful. Even people living in the neighborhood rarely know about this. But this is an amazing opportunity. And for this you do not need to fly to the other end of the globe.

If you have time take a look at my pics , and if you have any advice to give me ? I would like to more often on a manual mode , but when condutions are not to good a stay on the auto mode ... I have a Nikon coolpix 900 and old model but I love it !

I know the possibilities and limitations of my camera. In water, this is especially important, since there is no possibility to change optics. I'm picking up stories that I can shoot. If I see that there is no chance to make a shot, then I just look and enjoy.
Compact cameras have a lot of depth of field. On the one hand this is a plus. For example with macro shooting. But this is the problem. Very often superfluous objects get to the frame. They spoil the picture. Distract attention. This should be constantly monitored. The solution can be changing the angle and the shooting point.
A wildlife photographer should always work with his feet))
