Mirrors (Original Poem)
We look in the mirror reflectively
Seeking assurance that all is well
But not knowing who to be has left us not knowing where to look
And uncertain of all it is we see
We hold up mirrors passively
To reflect away the agony
But the one who enters leaves a part of themselves
To sooth it all away
And the mirror calls me, calls my name
Holding my sanity to ransom
But I'm not looking, I don't care to see
I don't care to find a reason why this madness is in me
In reading words I see myself
It's neither you, nor someone else
Sometimes reflected in the news I hear
I sense destiny showing me the hand of fate
Reminding me
Once again
That mirrors exist
Everywhere
Reflecting back what I fail to see
Reflecting back the lies between you and me
