#Needleworkmonday upcycle crochet tanktop
What would you do when you find a hole in your t-shirt?
You could simply through it in a garbage bin, cut it into small pieces to make disposable wiper, transform it into slippers, and many more ways to do.
Well, before I noticed about the hole, I have seen a beautiful doily stitched t-shirt on internet. It looked simply good and I wanted to try making one for my own but I was engaged in different project. So I just kept it in my mind and whenever I saw a round doily diagram in intetnet I saved it.
That is why when I discovered the hole, I thought this is my chance. I started making the crochet doily mainly at night before I sleep as my bed time story kind of thing. Very slowly done them in 2 months time to have enough large and small size doilies.
I prefer asymmetry and randomly positioned but not so good at balancing things, so I cut out papers that are the same shape as the doilies and moved them around on the shirt until it looked nice.
Then I replaced them with actual doilies.
Once I temporary stitched them on, I cut out the holes a little bit small to have sewing seam. The seam allowances were tucked in to make the holes more stronger and won't stretch so much.
To be completely honest with you, I actually did "test wearing" to see everything would be ok, well, the front didn't look so good with the small doilies because no wow factor... yes, I already cut out the holes... but... these happens do often to me. I just figured to put large doily on upper torso. Yep, it's all right!
The last thing I did was to place my skin tone fabric beneath the 3 doilies on the upper torso. My straps and cups showing? I don't think it's a good idea, and by living in a tropucal climate, less clothes is better, so I decided to cover around these.

What a wonderful idea to re-purpose a tee shirt with a hole in it! Well done @naomipangolin :)
Thank you @dianadee!! I will wait other t-shirts to have one, too, just for fun and enjoyment :)
Wow , this is some real innovation, when I first saw the picture I thought the designs came along with the shirt until I read your post , it look even prettier than before, I think using a different colour of dollies like purple or blue will still come out just as nice. Ok, after seeing this beautiful piece, I'm coming for all those shirts I have with holes on them, they're so going down!😎
I'm glad you like it @wondermaey! And happy to share. Yes, color variation would be nice, I agree. The trick is, when there is a hole.... make it BIGGER and make MORE holes, be bold!! :)
Ok, I'm a bit wary about making more holes tho, anyway let me get my hands on some dollies first. Thanks for the encouragement.🙂
