It is beautiful artwork, but I am struggling with it. The turtle is eating the sun?

Turtles and the sun seem to be very popular in Mayan and Yucatan art, but I don't get the turtle eating the sun. And the geese and beavers, was this painted by a Canadian trying to make it look Mexican? Never seen a goose or a beaver here, although I think if they had them they made a good dinner for someone.

And finally, and the point I have trouble bringing up with my southern heritage. The woman appears to be pregnant, but she has no nipples! That is going to be one hungry baby.

Disclaimer: I am not an artist and have very little appreciation for art. Do NOT in any way, shape or form take this to be a critic of the artwork. I am sure the artist could explain the pregnant woman with no nipples.

I don't interpret art much, kind of a novice and 'just look at the pictues.' No critic here either and nothing but opinion.

You have some valid points. Being displayed at a casino managed by the Oneida's I automatically presumed it was Indian artwork but the images do not support that.

Guess I could have read more about it.

However, I am whimping out and assuming it is one of those pieces if art intended for interpretation.

Still thinking about the nipple issue. Quite puzzling
