Some Improvements That Can Be Made In Our Culture
Hello people, I greet you all once again.
As much as I love our ghanaian culture and believe that it is one of the best cultures and country out there, I believe there is still room for improvement. I say this because there are still flaws in the way we go about things, especially our mentality surrounding women.
Due to the history of mankind, we have a general perception about the role of women in our society, the way they are supposed to behave, their role, jobs they can apply for and their lifestyle in general. This has limited the capacity of women in our world.
We therefore ought to do something about this and empowering women to fulfil these roles is a strong start. Just because of a person's gender does not limit their capabilities. I have been in classrooms where the best student was a female but she didn't pursue the course of her dreams as everyone kept telling her to go to the teacher's training college. At the time, they believed that it was the best thing for a female.
For the females who believe in themselves despite all the criticisms, they have reached very high levels of their careers and are now enjoying multiple opportunities in today's world where people are now realizing the essense of empowering women.
It been a long time coming and yet women are told even before tertiary education not to worry about serious career paths as a man will take care of them in the future. Do women not succeed in life as well? Is it only men with brain?
We must put a stop to these stereotypes since it is bound to affect future generations as well. Even when women meet the men of their dreams, they are usually hindered by the simple fact that the man needs to make the first approach.
This must improve if we would like a boost in our culture too. Thank you.
