The one task that I need to do periodically but never enjoy doing it.....

I have always written about what I enjoy doing in my life, like enjoy working with my Crystals, Travelling, Spending time with friends and lots more which I always keep writing about.

But then there are somethings which I do not enjoy doing but I still need to do them for some or the other reason. Ideally, I do not get into doing things which I do not enjoy but still a few cannot be ignored since they are required to do as a part of life.

One such thing that I absolutely do not enjoy doing is attending my work-related zoom meetings, which happens every Sunday and Monday 2hrs each day. It is one thing that I always want to run away from. I like to work independently on my own and then provide updates over emails and reports. Though these are project meetings and me being an HR actually I do not have much of role to play in the meeting besides monitoring the performance part and giving my inputs.

But my major problem is my attention span in these meetings which keeps drifting away. Anyways I do not like more of media sound and as such also I do not enjoy listening to much of talking. Moreover, these meetings most of the time leads into heavy arguments due to conflicting personalities of the team members, hence overall these meetings are not very pleasant for me.

In the past also when I was in a full time Corporate job this was one thing I never enjoyed, Conference calls and Video meetings. I just do not have tolerance for using the phone for a longer duration. And in the full-time job days, it was in extremes. When I left my job for a very long time, I did not want to touch my phone or felt like calling up people and talking to them. I just never wanted to talk to people on phone, and my hubby would get very irritated, because I would miss most of the calls.

The days when the meetings get cancelled, I feel so happy and relaxed as if a big burden is off my shoulder....hehehe, I feel good that I do not have to listen to the yap yap of people for 2 long hours. Now that I am on a break, I am feeling so much good of not attending these calls. Though they wanted me to, but I refused mentioning that I am on a complete break :-)

Except for these meeting part, I enjoy the other aspects of my work and that is also one reason that I am still continuing and of course after all it earns me my bread and butter, so it does matter.

Pre-covid times these meetings were in person and they were not as bad as now that it happens over the zoom meetings. It makes a hell lot of difference talking to people face to face and talking to people on video meetings, the level of understanding and reaction is much better face to face then over a video call, and if there are any issues, they quickly get resolved in a face-to-face meeting with some humor. But over the calls sometimes I find it difficult and also feel that at times the situation gets out of hand.

We all do have such things in our life which we do not enjoy doing it but we still have to because there is some relevance to it.
