A look into my sketchbook: Train Rides-September 2017

in #art7 years ago

Long train rides are always a very creative moment for me. You are stuck in a space for 30 mins-1 hour, you are given the opportunity to have no distractions (well more or less depending on the people on the train of course). I usually put my headphones in, have a look out the window at the landscapes and buildings flowing by, observe the people surrounding me and I imagine something about their lives. Then I grab my sketchbook and my preferred tool which had been a ballpoint pen lately and get drawing.

Here are a few drawing/sketches I have completed in the past weeks:

If you are interested in seeing a more step by step process of the first and second drawing, I've been planning on doing another post dedicated to them.

Thanks for reading, until next time

Well done for spending your time on something inspiring . I haven't used the train in a while since I work from home so I miss making art in that context. Upvoted and followed.

Thanks so much @fyntacie! I saw you're living in Cape Town! I lived in Durban for four years as a child, loved it!
I checked out your blog and website also and followed you, looking forward to see what's to come.

Thanks so much. I appreciate the support. South Africa's coastal cities are wonderful, it is a privilege to live here. I have a lot of hope for the country. I haven't stopped in Berlin but I did do a brief tour around Bavaria in 2013. I had been to England to see my uncle and the landscape (in this part) seemed so flat; when I got to southern Germany, I saw mountains and it felt like home. The public transport was so efficient.

Yes, I miss the coast so much!I've never been to Bavaria, maybe something to do in the future. There are beautiful lakes and forest around Berlin, and yes like you said the public transport is really good in Germany.

Fantastic. I always love looking at sketches and (unfinished) drawings. Especially love the high contrast second picture. Will follow.

Hey @xwerk, thanks so much for your comment. Yes, same I love seeing raw sketches, they usually always have a lot of personality to them!
Again, thanks for the support! :D

Great sketches and use of your time on the train. When I do long distance travel I also have drawing materials with me. Can't be away from the creative impulse for too long.

Thank you so much @leoplaw! Yes exactly, I enjoy it immensely. By the way, incredible work, and very nice exhibition!
