OK, I read the short article, and I don't find any of what he had to say at all objectionable or unreasonable. I'm not really very religious, so I would take his words of warning allegorically, rather than literally, but still they seem reasonable to me.
When I was young, a group of friends would sit down at a table in a restaurant and talk. Now they sit down and everybody pulls out their phone. The damned things have certainly changed our society and our concept of manners, mostly for the worse.
