Day 754: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt:lentil soup
This is my post for #freewrite Wednesday prompt lentil soup hosted by @mariannewest
Lentil soup is a soup based on lentils; it may be vegetarian or include meat, and may use brown, red, yellow or black lentils, with or without the husk. Dehulled yellow and red lentils disintegrate in cooking, making a thick soup. It is a staple food throughout the Middle East. What would I do if I did not have google, I got this from Wikipedia
I have never had lentil soup and had no idea how to make it but I can google a recipe if I want to make it. I was at my Mothers house today and when I walked in I heard something cooking on her stove and she was nowhere around. The pot of beans she was cooking was almost out of the water they were thick I gave them a stir and lowered the heat. I found my Mom in the back room and told her about her beans, she might have been making lentil soup I am not sure and I am unsure if lentils mean all beans or is it a special bean. Google did not say it just said lentils. Anyway, I think my Mom's beans will be a thick soup maybe even lentil soup.
The cold front came through today rain and windy all day so no fishing, they are calling for lots of wind tomorrow and Friday we might get to go but Saturday another cold front so it will blow again and there will be no fishing. It is like this every year, this is why it is important not to spend money unless need be. We make good money trout fishing and it gets us through fall then we make good money in winter and that gets us through till trout season in summer.

Well @mariannewest's recommendation that we prepare lentil soup perhaps has to do in that we should strengthen ourselves, have more iron, you know that lentil has enough iron that is good for red blood cells. You should have read it on Google, LOL.
@felixgarciap what I read did not mention it being high in iron, thank you it is good to know.
I ate it once or twice lentil soup I mean. I cannot say I like the taste but guess it was not haute the cuisine either. At times I see it would in cans. I once bought them to make soup but I don't like them. They are dry and tasteless and I choke in it. I think I used the rest with my pea soup which was ten times better and way more tasty. To me it is a big no.
A lentil is a very small pea and I would not call it a bean. Bean and bean soup are way more tasty too.

@wakeupkitty thank you I now have a visual of what lentils are.
@myjob I will see if I have some left. I only know the grey ones and once bought yellow ir irange or so. In most cases you see the grey ones. A bit smaller as the smalles peas and not as soft.❤️
I have at least two recipes for lentil soup, and they are both good, although I prefer the one that calls for red lentils rather than the brown ones.
@scribblingramma I guess living in Fl, I do not eat soup often, except for when sick or it is very cold and I make chicken noodle or chicken and dumplings.

I really haven’t made a lentil soup but have made baked beans such as your mother was making.
