Hot Pepper Tincture and Snow

Well this morning we got up to snow. About 1 inch. Just enough to make it extra slick here. The other thing we did this morning was to make a Hot Pepper Tincture...guaranteed to clear those sinuses.

Here is the basic recipe:
1/2 Cup - Hot Peppers
1/2 Cup - Garlic
1/2 Cup - Onion
1/2 Cup - Ginger
1/2 Cup - Horseradish (which I did not have)

80 Proof or stronger Vodka or Apple Cider Vinegar.

The Vodka tincture should stay good for years and years, where as the ACV might go bad in a couple of years.

Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed this.

A friend of mine makes something similar, he calls it fire cider and it is what it's called! But does the trick, I am not sure how it is made but again like your recipe it has lots of natural ingredients in it...but the most important part is...it works!
And as always, upvoted...commented..and resteamed!

I can't watch the video because I am laying beside a sleeping baby, but I have a question. How much of the tincture do you typically take? Sorry if the answer is in the vid.

I take at least 1 teaspoon at a time. Sometimes several times a day. A friend of mine tried ours out, and he put it in his mouth and swished it around for about 20 seconds and then swallowed. He said it helped him out with his sore throat. Ours is not even really done yet, but we have used it many times so far.

Thank you for replying. I have to decide if i want to make it with vodka or vinegar! Have you tried both?

What do you use to replace the horseradish root?

I did not have a substitute for the horseradish. I was going to use a horseradish cream/spread that I have used in cooking at times, but as I looked at the ingredients I noticed it had soybean oil, and I do not want that in this pepper sauce. I think I will be growing my own horseradish next year, and use my own peppers and ginger as well.

Thanks for following up, it is a great feeling (puff your chest out moment!!) when you use your own plants! It sounds like you are really close!

Good question... hard to come by here at this time of year

That will certainly take care of what ails you! The vodka will make it last a lot longer. We make all our tinctures with it. Pretty snow to look at but I hate shovelling.

Reminds me of "Master Tonic" or "Fire Tonic" It works for salad dressing also lol!

I like the name "Fire Tonic"

i saw this video and i liked in your post

may be i reasteam you sir

!

Makes my mouth water. All good ingredients :)

I am a firm believer in natural remedies. I used to get sick all the time due to living by farm fields on all four sides and eating chemical filled cheap foods.

Now we eat and live healthy and so far the three of us have not been sick yet. We eat a lot of garlic and chili in our family. Good stuff.

THIS is perfect!! We got hit with 8 inches of snow yesterday and last night... thank you
