EURO 2012 My volunteer project

in TravelFeed4 years ago
I would like to share with you my memories of a volunteer project I took part in 2012. It was the European football championship. Imagine a young girl dreaming of seeing famous football players, coaches and football matches, which will then go down in the history of world football.

The idea was born long before the trip. I read on the UEFA website that they invite young people who want to take part in the project. I applied for an online interview. They asked me questions about why I wanted to take part in this project. Had I already had experience? And when the official invitation came, stating that it had chosen me as a volunteer for EURO2012, it thrilled me.

We had a grand team of youthful girls and boys; we were 18-25 years old, we all spoke different languages, but the principal language for communication was English. As you know, the official opening date of the championship was June 8. But the team of volunteers started working in mid-May. All this time we were already working hard. They entrusted me to take part at the accreditation office. We printed the passes for the Ukrainian national team and the Spanish national team. It had to be done very carefully.

Verify thoroughly all information about the participants of the national teams. Keep a register of team members, their coaches, medics, and attendants, and no mistakes were made. We were all very responsible. We worked from morning to night, and no one wanted to leave work. We were so interested there; we did not consider personal time. I had a pass for all the objects. To the hall of official delegations, to the accreditation hall, to the Central stadium in Kiev. We organized everything in the best way for the volunteers.

They gave us a uniform with the Championship logo. The uniform was from Adidas. T-shirts, shorts, caps. Key chains. Gym bag. Backpack. Lightweight rain jacket. Adidas sports shoes. We were fed, and there was always a buffet for lunch. We chose whatever we wanted. There was always fresh orange juice for Breakfast. Fruit. There were always fresh vegetables for dinner. There were a lot of different pastries, pizza.

I was lucky, and I saw the England-Italy match at the Central stadium. Our group was sitting right behind the bench of Italian players. It was great to see them all together. Of course, I supported the Italian team when it reached the semi-finals, and then the final. Of course, I wanted to see Cristiano Ronaldo, but unfortunately, I didn’t see him. My memories are the best. I was happy!
