Our trip to Luxembourg… or hell… Part1
Our trip to Luxembourg… or hell… Part1
Well, I have to tell you guys now the story which happened a few days ago, it’s unbelievable how stressful and demotivating a trip can get!
Since I’m in Vienna because of my Makeup Course, I have to prepare a Photobook for my final exam. And because I don’t know anyone here in Vienna my husband and I thought that a trip to Luxembourg would be nice, so we can see our family again and I could finish the Photobook.
Well, maybe not…
We organized everything in advance before we had arrived in Luxembourg.
We rented a car, we planned to stop somewhere where we could have some rest and move on to a studio which we booked in Luxembourg for 3 weeks. This was the plan and the theory of the whole trip.
Well, it was a little different in practice…
We left our apartment in Vienna on Tuesday morning where we ordered an UBER to drive us to the airport (car rental). So, we could pick up the car at 7:30 am. At the car rental place, we thought that we could ask for the car and he would give us the key and here we go.
BUT it wasn’t that easy…
My husband and I arrived at the car rental station and we filled out the paperwork and showed him (the guy who worked there) our driver licenses and so on. Later on, the guy was just about to give us the key but he added that we needed to pay 1000 euro because of the insurance and that we could get the money back when we are back from our trip and the car is still alright.
So, there we had a big problem… because my husband had booked the car for us he paid everything in advance, online. So, he booked a car with insurance and the extra cost for crossing the border from Austria to Germany and Germany to Luxembourg. We thought that everything was paid and we just could get the car. The problem was that the booking went over 4 different companies plus the one where we should pick up the car. Which brought us in a big chaos.
I mean not everyone can pay 1000 euros at once… especially if your cards are all block to a certain limit. We had such a big discussion with the car rentals because on the paper it didn’t say anything about a payment from 1000 Euros. So, we were waiting, discussing and despairing for about 4 f****** hours.
One of the car rental dealers told us on the phone that they send us some paper stuff (like terms and conditions) where it says that we had to pay this amount of money, BUT in the first E-mail it just said that we needed to print out the first two pages and that’s it and on these two pages were nothing written about paying this amount of money.
The funny thing about this whole story is that the booking went over 4 different companies but just one of them has received all the money.
After some time, we figured out how we can change the limit of our card so that we finally could pay the amount of money.
And we finally received the key from the car!
A few days before we went to the car rental, my husband told me that he would prefer to take the plane instead of the car…but he didn’t change it. But he’s feeling was right.
Because we’ve lost so much time at the airport, we cancelled our booking where we should have some rest, it was too far away and we were so exhausted. My husband drove for about 3 hours and then we booked something spontaneously.
This place was heaven for us! It was an old farmhouse and the family who owned it, renovated it from the farm house to an apartment. It was beautiful and so quite like just we and nature! Nobody was there. It was on a mountain and they lived there alone so we finally could relax and have some rest. (I just wanted to live there for a while <3)
