How to Apply Blush and Contour – Professional Technique for a Natural Finish

In this video, you’ll learn how to apply blush and contour to achieve an even and natural finish. You can do this and wear it in everyday life too!

Tools you’ll need:
• A powder blush that fits your skin tone
• A contour shadow that fits your skin tone
• Two medium-sized face brush

Step 1: Apply the contour shadow

Choose a cool-toned brown contour shadow that matches your skin tone to get the most natural finish possible.

Apply the contour shadow using a medium size face brush and don’t forget to tap off the excess.

Start blending the contour shadow underneath your cheekbones using swiping and circular motions. Keep the movements fairly towards the hairline and blend it about halfway into your cheekbone line. Do not let it get too close to your mouth.

The less product you use, the better the finish.

Next is the forehead. Measure the size of your forehead with your fingers, holding your hand horizontally against it.

If you have a forehead of three or less fingers, you don’t really need to contour.

If not, start contouring slightly along the hairline. Don’t forget to use circular motions for the best blending results.

Use whatever is left on the brush to add a bit of a contour shadow under your chin and jawline.

Step 2: Apply the powder blush

Choose a powder blush color according to your skin tone and whatever finish you prefer the most—matte or shimmer.

If you don’t know what color to pick, pinch your cheeks and see what color they naturally turn to, or check the color of your cheek if you naturally flush.

Start applying the blush to the apples of your cheeks using either the same brush as before or a blush brush. Smile while applying the blush and blend towards the hairline and gently downwards to get a smooth blend between the contour and blush.

The secret is to not use too much product at once and keep blending! Remember, blush is applied to the top of the cheeks and contour underneath.
