AV-Test releases its latest monthly ranking of the best antivirus applications for Android. It does not take into account only protection.

The independent lab AV-Test has updated its ranking of the best protection applications for Android. On the benchmark, about 20 applications face several thousand malware.

In a real-world test, a security application must recognize recent malicious programs in infected applications. Another test is with a so-called reference kit for already known infected applications that publishers should know for nearly four weeks.

This first evaluation deals with global protection with less than half (9) of the tested solutions that have achieved perfect detection:

The protection score counts for 6 points in the final score which also takes into consideration a usage test on the consumption of resources and where almost all safety applications achieve a very good result with a maximum score of 6 points .

An additional point is allocated according to the presence of additional protection tools (anti-theft, secure navigation, backup, parental control ...). No jealous, this point has been attributed to everyone. In the end, it is a score out of 13.

In its last monthly review, the score of 13/13 was obtained by: AhnLab, Antiy, Bitdefender, Cheetah Mobile, G Data, Kaspersky Lab, McAfee, Sophos, Symantec, Tencent and Trend Micro.

Note, however, that while Kaspersky Lab, McAfee and Trend Micro earned the maximum score, their protection rate was not perfect in the strict sense of the term.
