The late animal snail in the world

in CCS26 days ago (edited)

Snails belong to the phylum Mollusca. This animal is found almost everywhere in the world, from high mountains, botanical gardens, to deep underwater rocks. In some parts of the world, these animals are kept as pets.
The shell is a characteristic feature of snails because the shell contains most of the internal organs, snails cannot survive without a shell.

Snails only have rudimentary eyes and no ears at all. Instead, they interact with the environment around them through their sense of touch and ability to detect vibrations. As we know, snails are very slow moving animals.

Do you know why?

Why Do Snails Move So Slowly?

Snails use their ventral legs, which are long, mucus-covered muscles on the underside of their bodies, to move at a speed of about one meter per hour (three feet per hour). The legs, or muscles, vibrate to make the animal slide on its own mucus. This system is inherently quite slow and is limited by the rate of mucus production. However, being slow is not always a problem for snails, as they rely on immobile food sources of plants and inanimate objects and other strategies besides fleeing to avoid predators their muted coloration keeps them camouflaged and the snails can shrink inward. Their shells are used to protect themselves.

These animals can be killed by salt. The reason why this is so can be said to be quite simple. Instead of going through a complex chemical reaction, the salt acts like a snail's kryptonite by drying out its slimy exterior. The salt essentially draws water out of their skin in an osmosis effect, and they die within minutes of dehydration. Snails are very dependent on the high water content in their bodies. They always need water to replace lost water.

Snails trapped in grains of salt will try to move while secreting a lot of mucus to clean their skin.
