We always evaluate ourselves in relation to society. All our values ​​depend on the environment. What is the difference between the fact that I lived a thousand or two thousand years ago in a certain society, and the fact that today I live in a different society? The difference is in the society itself. I felt happy or depressed in a certain sense under certain conditions relative to today. It's just a matter of definitions, values ​​that the environment puts before me.

And according to this I act, according to this I check myself - either I am depressed or in joy. And so in relation to everything. I only check myself against the environment. Otherwise, I am simply in emptiness. I don’t know how to navigate, I don’t know who I am and what I am.

What do I have to lose in my life? I part with this physical body once, that's all. But throughout my life I can be disappointed dozens of times over the loss of something. This applies to personal relationships, love, hate, envy, honor. There are so many factors for good or bad conditions, and sometimes they are so severe that death is better. Everything is assessed in relation to the environment, in relation to someone, something external.

If I were only on my own, I wouldn't have any sense of my existence, because I am always checking myself against something else. A child left in the forest and growing up with the animals compares himself and his success to animals. Everything is relative to the environment.

If I set a goal for myself, and this goal is beautiful, attractive to me, then until I reach it, my state is not so good. I strive towards this goal. If I do not define a high, beautiful goal for myself, then my present state is only my present state. And in it I can feel good or bad. Right? If I feel good, then this does not pull me anywhere, and I do not develop. But at the moment, let's say, I feel good, and I do not want anything, I seem to be in a pink dream.

But if I feel bad, what do I do? When I have no goal and nothing good? This is a big problem! I must immediately take some kind of sedative, drug, something else. Therefore, all the time you need to make sure that there is a society of true friends, which has a goal and great desires. In relation to this society, I must do work, be included in them. If I join them, say, they attract me, are interesting to me, then I perceive this goal as a high one, begin to be impressed by this and strive for it.

And then I check myself only against the goal. And when I check myself against the goal, then I check how I can achieve it together with them, that is, I am already included in them, I begin to see the connection between us and our connection with the goal, and that it is in connection with each other that we achieve the goal.
