Jakarta - The shocking news comes from the world's largest messaging company today, WhatsApp. The CEO and co-founder, Jan Koum, decided to resign. What is the reason?

Ukraine-born man is planning to step down, reportedly after a dispute with the parent company WhatsApp ie Facebook.

Based on sources cited by the Washington Post, Koum disagrees with Facebook's strategy about WhatsApp and their efforts to use the user's personal data WhatsApp and weaken its security.

"It's been almost a decade since Brian and I started WhatsApp and it's an awesome journey with some of the best guys," Koum wrote on Facebook while calling on the other founder of WhatsApp first stepped down, Brian Acton.

"But now is the time for me to move on," he wrote, without mentioning exactly when he would leave WhatsApp.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg commented on Koum's post and expressed his gratitude. "I will miss working closely with you," Zuck wrote.

Facebook is currently 'fighting' with EU regulators regarding plans to use WhatsApp user data, including mobile numbers, to develop products and advertising. The plan was delayed, but WhatsApp says it wants to move on.
