Characteristic 1: a person with very low self esteem feels worthless and has a low opinion of himself. Self esteem is the opinion about yourself you have about yourself. Everyone lacks self-confidence at times but those with very low self esteem are usually unhappy or dissatisfied with themselves all the time. They give negative feedback to themselves all the time and are preoccupied with their flaws. People with a very low opinion of themselves are normally insecure and therefore seek to other people to validate themselves.


People with low self esteem are obsessed with themselves. They cannot stand being alone, they cannot stand criticism. So what they do is to internalize everything they say and focus on the negative. In their attempt to build themselves up they have to diminish the good things they have done, they have to minimize their accomplishments and instead focus on their negatives. This distorted way of thinking causes them to live in a world of emotional wastage and eventually to depression and suicide.

People with low self esteem often mistake self love as weakness. They try to get help from people around them because they feel that they cannot control their negative feelings. They will then reach out for validation from other people and become dependent on them. If you get help from other people and work on your self-love and remove the critical inner critic, then you will have more self-confidence and feel better about yourself. To improve your self image, you need to eliminate the feelings of sadness, anxiety and fear that are caused by the negative feedback you receive from yourself and start to build yourself up instead of down.

People with low self esteem also live in fear of change. They spend most of their time worried that something or someone will take away their sense of self worth. This kind of fear prevents them from taking any action that might improve their self worth. In addition to living in fear, they also feel anxiety over various aspects of life, like whether they will land a new job or will lose their girlfriend or boyfriend, or whether they will be able to buy a house or car.

The best solution is to work through your negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. You should replace all of the negative thoughts with positive ones and you should keep replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones. Once you replace all of your negative thoughts with positive ones, then you will start to feel better about yourself. This is how most people with low self-esteem get help. They surround themselves with positive people who will reinforce their positive feelings about themselves and help them to build their self confidence.

Another way to improve your self-worth is to learn how to build up your own self confidence. Self-confidence is often described as having high levels of mental and emotional confidence. You may be afraid of speaking in public or you may be afraid of expressing your opinions in front of other people. A healthy self-image is essential if you want to build up your self esteem, because your self-image is a major factor when it comes to the confidence level that you have in yourself and in your abilities to take on challenging tasks.

Low self esteem often interferes with our feelings towards other people, including our friends. People with depression tend to have a bad view of others, including how we treat other people. We also tend to have a bad view of ourselves. Because of these issues, we may have problems relating to others on a deep level. Our relationships with other people may suffer. As we start to address our self issues, our depression lifts, and we gain more self confidence which improves our relationship with others.


The bottom line is that you need to do something about this, and fast. There are many options for changing the way that you think and feel about yourself and about the world around you. When you make a commitment to change, it is easier for you to get there. It is better not to try and change things from the inside because it is hard to do, but to try and do them from the outside in a positive way that lifts your self-image and builds your self-confidence so that you are able to see the good enough side of everything and everyone around you.
