Empower Your Life - How To Disempower Emotion

When we talk about "emotion" what we really mean is "potentiality." This term was first used by the Indian philosopher Patanjali. According to him emotions are a combination of three things: desire, excitement, and irritation. If you can master these three elements, you can master any human endeavor.


Emotion is the fuel of life; in other words, it is what makes us move forward. However, all three components are also powerful sources of frustration and grief that can drag us down. Negative emotions are the negative equivalent of hunger, thirst, and cold. However, by learning how to manage these negative emotions, you can let go of the inner critic and cultivate instead the feeling of gratefulness for whatever good thing you have in your life.

Anger is one of the most disempowering emotions. Anger not only damages relationships, it also weakens the immune system and increases the risk of heart disease. People who suffer from rage sometimes don't know how to handle their rage. However, by understanding and learning how to manage anger you can let go of your inner critic and cultivate instead the feeling of gratitude for every negative thing in life.

Fear is another of the disempowering emotion. Most people who fear are those who are afraid of something they cannot do. This can cause them to delay taking action. Fear is also another source of negative emotions because of its numbing effect. Instead of taking advantage of every negative opportunity to learn new things, people who are afraid of confrontation do so, as a way of avoiding reality.

Gratitude is perhaps the most powerful of all our disempowering emotion. When we are feeling low and depressed, most of us tend to crave for things such as food, romance and a lot of other things that are out of reach. Yet, if we cultivate the power of gratitude we will realise that there is nothing that we really need but ourselves and that we can achieve everything that we want through the power of gratitude.

By developing a sense of gratitude we will be able to experience more abundant feelings, not just happiness, but also abundance in all aspects of life. If you were to take a moment to think about the last time you felt like smiling, you may well have been in a similar situation as I was. You might have felt like telling someone your troubles but you didn't want to put the person in a bad position. However, if you were to cultivate the power of gratitude you will know exactly what I mean because you will feel better already. You will feel empowered when you say "Thank you" to the person who gave you the gift of happiness.

The power of gratitude should also be practiced every time you feel yourself get stuck in negative emotions such as sadness or anger. Just put a little gratitude and compassion into action by thinking positively and imagine yourself in the thoughts of those people. This will immediately disempower any negative emotions that you may be having. Instead, you will be generating feelings of contentment and abundance.


It is important that we not only learn how to cultivate the power of gratitude but also that we understand how the universe works. One simple way to do this is to try and replace every negative emotion with feelings of positivity. By doing this you will become happier immediately. Once you understand how the world works and you can change your negative emotions into feelings of positivity, you will be well on your way to eliminating any negative emotions, which will empower you to create abundance in every area of your life.
