Different Fits

in #exhaust7 years ago

I just finished a 19.992km indoor cycling workout that lasted about 1hh:0mm:16ss !

Bit of a ride, then I decided to start fidgetting with the seat(s).

Swapped out to the nicer blue saddle. Seat positions (height-ish | forward/back):

  • 97cm | back; Felt very bouncy
  • 97cm | forward; I think this felt pretty good...
  • probably 92ish cm | back; felt very scrunched up -- but less bouncy.. This is when I spiked the speed;
  • 92ish | mid; this definitely felt too low.

Does anyone have some good tips on bike fitting? I had previously seen this video from GCN with some tips -- and I tried to keep a few in mind. Specifically:

  • trying to have a bit of an angle at my knee when fully extended; and
  • when both pedals are level, your knee should be directly above where you crank attaches to the pedal

Disclaimer: I may have gotten those two points above wrong... been a while since I've watched the video, and I'm too lazy to watch it again.

One thing I'm pretty sure of though, is that the Rock N' Roll trainer I have bounces a LOT (it's kinda generally designed to, I think?). I should should a little video and show how much the damn thing moves. Probably only getting something like 60% power efficiency to my wheels. I should go for a ride outside on the next nice weekend -- 25km/hr outside doesn't feel this hard.

Whatever... I guess as long as I'm trying hard and sweating -- it's working. Which it is.
