Hi, everyone. Good day to you all. I hope you are good wherever you are seeing this post from. As you know, I do write to share what I have learned which may be of help to you. I hope you have read my last article of daily lessons.

In my last post, I discussed the importance of appreciating people. I told you that we should always cultivate the habit of appreciating people. When you appreciate, it gives people to do more for you. I concluded the article by appreciating some people who have contributed to my growth in this platform. I did that intentional with the sense that you will also see the reason to do the same.

That being said, today, I'm going to be sharing another important lesson with you. I hope you will find it helpful. I implore you to read to the end because you will surely learn one thing or the other.

Never Take People For Granted

One thing I have seen people do often is that, they take people for granted. Some people do it intentional, while some do it unknowingly. Even those that do it unknowingly, when they realize, they fail to correct themselves.

People take others for granted because they think they are nobody.

One of the ways to avoid taking people for granted is to believe they are important. Never think they can't amount to anything even when they seem they aren't at the present. I have seen where someone looked down on a person just because he has small stature, he looks like a dwarf. Some people take others for granted because they are poor. You see, those who you look at and think are wretched may be people who will pay your salary tomorrow.

Life can happen to anybody. Honestly, it can. People who seem insignificant today may be important persons tomorrow. Tables can turn at anytime. So, please don't take them for granted. Treat people as if they are important than the condition they are. That's how to avoid taking people for granted.

You will take people for granted if you don't value them

Sometimes the reason why people take others for granted is because they don't value them. If you value people, you will not take them for granted. You see, no matter what people look like, if you truly value them, it will show by how you talk to them, how you respond to them.

Sometimes, it may be difficult to value those who have no contribution in your life. But you can still value them. It doesn't take from you to value them. All yo you need is to respect them in words and actions.

Whatever you value, you will respect. If you want to value people, start by honoring them. By intentionally honoring people you will not take them for granted.

You will take people for granted if you don't believe in them.

Another reason people take others for granted is because they never believe in them. They don't believe in them because they never think they have potentials. If you don't believe people have potentials, you can never value them and once you don't value them, you will take them for granted.

There's a story of a young boy who seemed to have no interest in all other subjects except art. His teachers always took him for granted because he always came last in class. But this boy had potential and interest in art. Everybody took him for granted.

But he kept doing what he had interest in. Eventually an art competition was organized, the first of its kind. The principal of the school looked for who will represent the school. Some teachers wanted the brilliant students to go and represent the school, but the principal insisted that a test should be given to the students who are interested in representing the school on art drawing.

The school didn't teach the drawing. So, nobody wanted to go. But this young man who was been taken for granted by his teachers and students stood and told the principal he will go. The principal agreed. He was given all he needed for the competition.

The day of the competition, he dressed well from home and said a prayer, "help me, God. Help me to bring honor to this school." He went and represented the school. At the end of the competition, he was honored. He came first in competition. About 60 schools participated in the competition and he came first.

The boy brought glory and honor to his school. People were really amazed for his performance. Even though his school wasn't teaching art drawing, he performed wonderfully well. His performance and honor he brought to his school made the school to start teaching art.

It's like the honor he brought to school opened up his brain. After his award, he started performing well in other subjects, too. Can you see that? Nobody is without potentials. Don't take people for granted because they don't seem to like what you like, they aren't good at what you like or aren't interested in what you like. If you believe everyone has potentials, you will not look down on them or take them for granted.

I hope you have picked one or two lessons from this. You can use the comment box to make contribution. Thank you for reading to the end.
