One of the kiddo's favourite summer activity was a visit to Home Depot on the second Saturday of each month.

This immensely popular home improvement retailer provide free project building classes for kids. The projects are simple building with wood and tools. Parents must accompany and assist their children all the while they are in the class.

The kiddo made a planter and a bird feeder and these artistic creations now occupy a place of pride on the shelf in his toy closet. Sometimes, he used the planter to hold his numerous colour pencils and crayons when his playmates are over at the house busy drawing Pacman and his Ghosts.

Well, back to the kiddo's building ventures. This is an opportunity for the kiddo and the dad to enjoy some quality time reading the project instructions, hammering away and finally painting their masterpiece. Perhaps this experience has given the kiddo a taste of good teamwork. He is always offering to help out whenever his dad is dealing with minor repairs around the house.

Home Depot allows kids to keep their completed project and even award them with an achievement pin and a completion certificate for their labour and effort.
