Trip to the Farm
We were on the way to the store to get some groceries when my daughter suddenly felt a yearning for okra and quickly drove on to the farm at Weston some thirty miles away.
I know that the store seldom has okra in the produce section but I was totally unprepared for a trip to the farm. It was supposed to be a quick trip to the store and unlike the others, I had not put on a coat. I dreaded to think of the cold.
When we arrived, there was no okra but the kind staff offered to harvest some from their vegetable patch. I went along and we managed to harvest a small basket of okra although the patch is rather small. The farm has a huge cornfield and several acres of apple trees. It supports the local farmers by offering their produce in the store instead.
While at the farm the kiddo had a great time eating and picking apples. We got a basket of different types of apples for ten dollars only. Besides the apples and okra, we also bought a small round white pumpkin that the kiddo took from one of the carts and insisted on taking it home.
I was so cold my teeth were chattering by the time we got back into the car but we had a really pleasant time at the farm.
