October Dilemma

When the month of October comes around, I tend to develop a nervous tension on the back of my shoulders. I have known for several years now that this is due to stress.

The cause for this stress buildup is the anxiety of finding the right presents for the kiddo, my children, brothers, niece and nephew. Yes, they are all October born.

I harbour a fear that my selection of gifts would not be well received. Maybe it's too tacky or too cheap or the colour not tasteful. Ultimately, the forlorn presents would be chucked into cold storage and maybe used as regifts. Often, I would just give cash. These guys could spend the cash as they like and everybody's happy.

Somehow, I have resumed hunting for presents for the past few years. Without having to leave the house, I could just browse Amazon, Lazada and a few other online sites to source and make my purchases.

It's easier said than done. For the past two weeks, I have been combing Amazon toys and games sections for the right birthday present for my precious kiddo. His mama rejected all my shortlisted gift suggestions as either too expensive, too complicated for his age, safety concerns or she has plans to get the same gift for him!

She has been making life rather difficult for me. So today, without first checking with her, I placed some orders and then forwarded the purchase confirmation note to enable her to monitor receipt of the packages. Too late for further discussion. The orders should arrive by early next week. I hope she would be happy but more importantly I hope the kiddo would love my presents.
