Chicken Rice

It was a last minute decision to join some friends for a long weekend at Hat Yai, Thailand. They had booked their flight tickets and accommodation much in advance. My fare cost three times more than the special price. I was pissed at my own indecisiveness and stupidity.

The city center is not very big and for the next few days, we are just eating, shopping and getting foot massages. Everyone refused to budge; absolutely no sightseeing. The friends brought their wives along and they just want to shop. Clothes and food are cheap and abundant. I got lots of tees, hats and sandals for the kiddo.

The food here especially street food is a big thumbs up. There are stalls and little restaurants everywhere. Our self appointed guide friend took us on a gluttony spree of four to five meals each day. Thai cuisine is full of flavour and so tasty.

He loved chicken rice and inevitably we eat at least one chicken rice meal everyday. He knows all the good chicken rice shops around the city. Whole chickens are slowly poached and the excellent broth is served separately in little bowls. The tender and aromatic chickes are chopped into bite size pieces and served with rice and garlicky chilli sauce. Yum!
