GOOD MORNING FRIENDS. LET'S START TODAY WITH THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG “...I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS"

Many many years ago, about 150 years ago, there there was a great wave of revival in Wales, England.

And as a result of this, many missionaries came from England to northeast India to spread the Gospel of jesus christ.
The Wales England region was known as Assam and is comprised with hundreds of tribes.
The tribal communities were quite aggressive and primitive.
The tribesmen were also called HEAD-HUNTERS because of their social custom which required the male members of the community to collect as many human heads as possible.
A man’s strength and ability to protect his wife was assessed by the number of human heads he collected.
So, a youth of marriageable age would try and collect as many human heads as possible and hang them on the walls of his house.
The more human heads a man had collected, the more eligible and capeble he was considered.
Now, into this very hostile and aggressive community, came a group of Welsh missionaries spreading the message of the love of christ, of peace, and hope in Jesus Christ.
They were not welcomed at all normally.
But however, One Welsh missionary, finally succeeded in converting just a man, his two children and his wife.

This man’s faith proved so contagious and many villagers began to accept the message of Christianity.
Angrily, the village Chief summoned all the villagers one day.
He then called the family who had first got converted, to renounce their faith in public or face execution and the burning of their house.
Moved by the Holy Spirit who had taken over him, the man sung his reply and said,
“I have decided to follow Jesus, i have decided to follow Jesus, i have decided to follow jesus, No turning back no turning back.”
Enraged at the refusal of the man and his family, the Chief ordered his archers to arrow down the two children first and they did.
As the boys lay twitching on the floor, the Chief asked, “now, are you ready to deny your faith?
You have lost both your children already and you will lose your wife too.”
But the man sorrowfully replied him again singing the same song,
“Though none go with me but still I will follow..., No turning back, no turning back.”
The Chief was beside himself with fury and ordered his wife to be arrowed down and she was at once. She had joined her two children in death.
Now the chief asked for the last time, “I will give you one more opportunity to deny your faith and live or.”
In the face of death the man sung again,
“The cross before me...the world behind me... No turning back, No turning back.”
He was shot dead like they did to the rest of his family.

But with their deaths in that land, a great miracle took place.
The Chief who had ordered the killings was greatly moved by the faith of the man.
And he wondered, “Why should a man, his two children and his wife die for a Man who lived in a far-away land, and on another continent some 2,000 years ago?
He concluded that there must be some supernatural power behind this family and "I too want that supernatural power.”
And he spontaneously confess his faith, and he declared, “I too belong to this Jesus Christ!”

When the crowd heard this from the mouth of their Chief who just killed a family for confessing christ, they were convicted and by this, the whole village accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.
