My Steemit Wet Dream
Having browsed this platform a lot today, reading post after post and keeping up with what is going on, there is no doubt a great community that is currently unfolding in front of our eyes.
But what is really getting me interested is where I think we are all going to land in relation to what is unfolding and but more so what the potential pitfalls are in my opinion and ultimate what is my wet dream for steemit.
1. Tumblr 2.0
Tumblr incredibly successful in it's own right, went from being a great platform in the early days to share a little piece of yourself with the world to being bombard with spam after spam and infiltrated by terrible content. Can this happen here....of course it can, regardless of our ability to upvote and champion great content. For one great post there will be 10 that miss the mark. So, it does rest on us early adopters to try and avoid this from happening.
2. Disenchanted users.
People have posted about this already, dropping off like flies! Disenchanted by not having success and giving up. This is a terrible terrible situation. Why because, each person lost is a person not talking about the platform and if they are talking about the platform not in a good way.
Where is the retention strategy to keep people or more importantly where are other ways for these people to get involved in the platform and still benefit...more thinking needs to come out regarding this.
3. Great posts that are lost to Steemland
So so many great posts are being lost along the way. Think pinterest, perfect way to keep posts! We need to see more of this style of interaction being integrated into Steemit. Otherwise again people will end up as disenchanted users.
4. Content that goes beyond what I'm writing about Steemit.
This kind of content needs to be rewarded more. I think what would be cool is if there was even a scaled reward based upon the kind of content that needs to be generated! If STEEMIT topics are so succesful, enough people are contributing to them...then why not give higher rewards for other topics and have it working on a sliding scale.
My wet dream looks something like this.
- The growth of tumblr
- Happy users where everyone can benefit even if it's not just curating and writing content. Other avenues of contribution.
- Great posts can be championed.
- A sliding reward scale to champion a diverse amount of topics to be written about. Not just following the trends. This would make it a more well rounded platform.
If you like this post give us an upvote, it will keep me around! Enjoy!
