Idea for Steemit.com: Auto-Vote and Weekly Email Summary

Idea for Steemit.com: Auto-vote and Weekly email summary feature.

Users could identify their top favorite authors and setup an auto-upvote for each. Additionally, a bi-weekly (twice a week) email that aggregates all those blogs is sent to the user.

Reasoning: I have my favorite authors and I always upvote them, but I don’t always have time to check Steemit.com every day to catch their posts in my feed.  Sometimes I don’t see their content until after the 7 day window has passed and cannot support them with my upvotes.

So, having an automatic upvote system, that I can configure for each favorite author (some I do like more than others), combined with an email summary that I receive a couple times a week, so I can jump to their posts would be great!

Sort:

Liked the post but what happens if you get hacked and are no longer able to control who you up vote every week.

seems like a very good idea but all ideas have unknown problems. one of the reasons they have the time window might be to force people to come back to their website and the auto vote may defeat the purpose of that

That would make things easier, I too can not keep up with the posts and often miss the 7 day window.

Can't some bots be good? (Cheetah..., the Robot from "Lost in Space", HAL 9000...er, scratch that last one. )

Sure, but with less of a "kill all humanity" vibe. Perhaps more along the lines of Data from Star Trek Next Generation.

that's what bots are doing to steemit....killing it.

Bots are automation tools. Tools can be used for good or bad. I agree many bots are not beneficial to Steemit, but I cannot condemn all bots/tools.

what are your view on guncontrol?
should anyone be allowed to own a machine gun?
it's just an automated gun

Weapons are just tools. Pencils, broken bottles, knives, axes, spears, guns, explosives, etc. are all tools. How they are used is where the problem lays. Given we cannot trust everyone to properly handle some of them, it would stand to reason we would need to limit their availability. How and which weapons is dependent on the maturity of the society at that moment. Some communities I would fear having a sharp stick, while others I am fine with carrying around automatic weapons. So the answer depends upon the situation.

Have you looked at the bot programs that @inertia has written? I believe that it can do what you want. You might need to tweak it a little bit.

I don't know if you want to dabble, but I imagine if you start here https://steemit.com/radiator/@inertia/dr-otto-vote-bidding-bot, you will be 75% to the finish line.

Sounds interesting. Is it Radiator? (was looking at his posts, but am not sure)

It definitely uses radiator.

I was thinking more along the lines of, clone drotto, then read the code to see how it manages the upvoting. Change it so that it doesn't listen for requests for votes, but you could write an ini file with the authors you want it to upvote, the percent you want to upvote, based on whatever properties you wanted. (i.e. tags)

I think we have surpassed my technical savvy and desired effort level. ...ie. I am a Windows guy who prefers the 'Easy' button. :)

Oops,
I assumed you were bilingual.

Have you researched steemvoter? https://steemvoter.com/

I think it does everything except for send you an email with the summary.

Here's an example of the rules you can create.

and, you could look at the logs to see who you have voted on.

and I see in the User Settings that you can get email notifications.

I do not know whether they are summarized though.

Here is what the log looks like. The links take you to the post.

Thanks!!! I will take a look into it.
Much appreciated.
