MERCH by Amazon Sales Update # 1 - Overview of Account History & Today's Sales
Hello everyone,
I was thinking about starting a YouTube channel to start with daily Merch by Amazon updates but figured this could be a good place to start. I can see myself doing YouTube updates as well but want the videos to be informative and useful to others. I've spent many hours, days, weeks and months following others on YouTube and found their videos very helpful and inspiring. I have to be honest and say that those people have really taught me a lot. My goal here is to do the same for others. I will try my best to provide daily updates even if there are no sales but will be happy posting as often as possible even if it's not every day.
As you can see I got approved in March 2017 and started at Tier 10. It took a few months to get tiered up to 25 slots and I think that was sometime at the end of May or early June 2017. It took a few months to get to Tier 100 and then again Tier 500. I've tried and succeeded to upload my max every single day even as designs were getting removed for not having any sales. So far I am happy to say that I have not missed a single day and that is my goal for the foreseeable future.
As you can tell I am at Tier 1000. That was a big deal for me just like every other time I got tiered up. I still remember where I was every time I noticed new tiers. Right now I am allowed 20 uploads a day and I'm trying to stay ahead of the game. Currently I have about 300 designs in Draft ready to be uploaded but that number is still very low in my mind because that means that I am about 15 day ahead of my max allowed and that's only for Tier 1000. This means that when I get up to Tier 2000 I will only be about 6-7 days ahead of my max allowed.
My sales are definitely nowhere near where I thought they would be let's say 6 months ago. I really did expect a much faster sales growth rate but in no way am I discouraged or feel like I'm doing something wrong. I have designs that have steady sales but I still can't say that I have any "winners" that sell more than 5 or 10 a day or that have gone viral. My current approach is to play the long term game and I'm systematically uploading designs that I do not expect will sell in large quantities but I do want to offer shirts in many niches. Once in a while I have tried to chase a trend or try to cash in on some breaking news but haven't had any luck. The only reason I feel comfortable throwing up 20-40 designs to actually take a chance is because I have a lot of slots available.
Ok now that I've gone over my whole Merch history without hopefully boring you let's get to today's sales.
Today SUCKED! Since November my sales haven't bounced back. My best week was about 60-70 sales but once Amazon started throttling I've had to slowly get back up from 5-6 a week to 30-40 last few weeks.
