Review of the film "Moontrap: Target Earth" (2017) - And I liked it!

The world premiere of the film "Moontrap: Target Earth", created by US filmmakers in the genre of fiction, adventure and action took place on February 7, 2017. In the Russian box office, this film did not appear, but it can be found on the Internet on sites that provide services for viewing movies online.

I usually listen to the opinion of those who have already watched the film that I chose to watch, and wrote a review for it, but, apparently, it is the fact that this picture was given so many negative reviews, and moved me to at least see its beginning, and then decide whether to watch it further or not.

The further I watched it, the more and more I became interested in how the story would develop further, how it would end in the end. As a result, I watched it to the end and was satisfied with it.

Let's start with the fact that the plot of this film was still quite original. I have not yet encountered such an idea embedded in its plot as an ancient civilization that once lived on the moon and sent a spaceship to Earth with a message that people will be able to read only fourteen millennia later.

I don't want to say that everything went smoothly. Yes, there were holes in the story. The scenery doesn't look very convincing in the opening shots, but perhaps it was a lack of budget?

There are not enough special effects here, and we, the audience, are already quite used to having more of them, but they would be brighter and more spectacular.

Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the clumsy appearance of the robots, the incomprehensibility of the last fight between the red and blue robots. It is also unclear who the people were who gave the order to destroy the ship at all costs, and everyone who knew anything about it.

The performance of the actors who performed the main roles, including Sarah Butler, Charles Shaughnessy, Damon Dayub, Kara Annmarie and others, was quite consistent with the level of this film.

I was only strained by the excessive pathos of the main character and her constant fuse to climb where she is not asked.

In General, I would put this film a solid four out of five possible and would advise all fans of fantastic action movies to watch.
